Emerging Judaism

Replace all the references to "Judaism" in this Publisher's Weekly interview with the word "Christianity," and it will be virtually indistinguishable with an interview with a postmodern church leader. Rabbi Niles Elliot Goldstein, author of Gonzo Judaism, uses phrases like "rejection of the Jewish status quo" and "reclamation of our rebel roots" and challenges "leaders and organizations of the religious establishment who are not forward-thinking and who are trapped in models that no longer work and ideas that don’t speak to the current generation." Combined with the report of a new Hindu megatemple in India, it looks like evangelicals aren't the only ones trying to figure out how to make their faith relevant to a new generation of religious consumers.
